The Shop & The Table
“Butik for Borddækning” (Shop for Table Settings) represents nine designers and craftsmen, each with their very different expression of idea, form and materials. The concept of the shop is based upon a shared interest in objects that are used in connection with the table and the tablesetting. The Table is the place where we gather for our meals. The place where conversation, intimacy and gastronomic enjoyment can meet and a sensuous experience unfold. The products at the shop invites to imaginative use of the the table as a compositional space and gives inspiration to various table settings. Objects made of different materials such as glass, porcelain, earthenware, concrete and wood contrast each other in shape, colour, texture and scale. The products are carefully selected with respect for the thoroughly prepared design and range from classical to innovative and experimental expressions. They are handmade series produced at individual studios, or small industrially made productions. “Butik for Borddækning” offers a permanent showroom, changing experimental theme exhibitions and individual exhibitions where the designers show a wider range of products from their collections.
